I first obtained my real estate license in 1982. I started just before the interest rates hit 15%, and they went UP from there. With the help of a great title agent I designed a program to take mobile homes in on trade and began a journey selling and building a house every other month for five years. It was great moving people from mobile homes to newly constructed custom built homes. I then placed the mobile homes into service as a, “Savings account you can live in…” a rent to own program that built equity in the mobile home to be traded in for a newly built custom home.
Many people I worked with had been told by others that there was, “No way for them buy at this time”. Some utilized my mobile home program, others did not. Most everyone I dealt with was able to buy their first home.
I started my college education at Washington State University, where my grandfather Joseph Hansen and his brother, my great uncle Sam Hansen played football on the 1931 Rose Bowl team. During this time I explored North Idaho and found it to be ‘the place’ I would most like to live. I later confirmed the idea as I traveled the country during my military time and found no place I would rather be than North Idaho. After 35 years in Boise, I was able, with some great help from my wife Teresa, to move back to North Idaho. I found 18 acres of ground with an incredible view of the Clearwater River (after looking for 15 months) and I am now living the North Idaho dream.
After a variety of business ventures, positions as director, and several times in and out of the real estate industry, (including a time as a Realtor and mortgage broker) I am once again ready to help people realize their dreams and goals in regard to real estate ownership.
United Country Real Estate has incredible tools for me to be able to serve my clients well. My background in income property and real estate finance are an incredible combination with those tools. Give me an hour and tell me your goals. Let’s build your real estate portfolio.
I want to introduce myself. I am a real Idaho native, born here and raised here in a farm family. Not only do I understand small town and rural life with its satisfactions and hard hitting challenges, but I have spent the greater part of my professional career involved in land development, residential construction, and real estate marketing. I have over 30 years working closely with Idaho home and land owners. This experience has provided me with expertise in residential and land valuation, marketing, buyer networks and sales strategies which I believe can be extremely valuable to you when considering selling or buying property.
Rick Musick founded his auction and real estate company in Grangeville, Idaho in 1977, and continues to act as Owner/Member of Musick Land Group. Rick has almost 40 years’ experience in the auction and real estate business and is known in his industry for being an innovative and a forward thinker.
Rick is an award-winning auctioneer and was even inducted into the Idaho Association of Professional Auctioneers "Hall of Fame" in 2008. He is the only auctioneer to have won the Idaho State Auctioneer Championship, twice. He is also a Northwest Champion Auctioneer as well as second runner-up in the International Bid Calling Championship. Rick is also one of the few auctioneers in the nation that can auction in Spanish and English simultaneously.
In 2010 Rick teamed up with Potlatch Land to offer his buyers the best recreation properties available in North Central Idaho. Having grown up in North Central Idaho on a farm and ranch he has always been passionate about the land. Rick has been connecting people with recreational land opportunities in North Central Idaho since he began representing Potlatch. In addition, teaming up with UC Hunting Properties has given us the opportunity to highlight recreation properties in excess of 100 acres in North Central Idaho.
Rick’s love of the land came from his father and grandfather, both ranchers and farmers on the Camas Prairie. In his spare time Rick breeds and raises full-blooded Angus cattle on his 285 acre ranch located between Grangeville and Cottonwood on the Camas Prairie. The month of July usually finds Rick harvesting his hay crop or enjoying a long dog at the Border Days Festival and Rodeo over the fourth of July held in downtown Grangeville, Idaho.
Always looking for new ways to explore North Central Idaho, Rick purchased an UTV, a Polaris Ranger (with additional snow tracks!) so you can comfortably enjoy viewing the recreational properties from his all-weather cab -regardless of the season!
Shanda Norton was born and raised in Colorado. She graduated from Meeker High School and married her high school sweetheart later that fall. Her husband completed his training with the Colorado Police Academy and they moved to Monte Vista CO, located in the San Luis Valley, for him to start his career in Law Enforcement. He excelled and was later elected Sheriff of Rio Grande County. He served the community for 30 years and has recently retired from Law Enforcement. They raised 2 beautiful daughters in Del Norte CO that are the lights of their life and now have 2 beautiful Grandson’s that keep them on their toes! They purchased property in Del Norte CO and owned and operated a small farm where they raised herford cattle and butcher hogs. “Our farm was a fun place to visit. We had all sorts of critters; quarter horses, miniature horses, miniature pigs, chickens, large sized pigs, cows, a parrot named Paco, parakeets, fish, cats, 6 dogs, turtles, and numerous small critters over the years. It was a lot of fun and taught our children how to care for and nurture animals”.
Shanda was a licensed Realtor in Colorado for many years and when her husband retired from law enforcement they decided to move to Idaho. She says, “We chose to live in Orofino Idaho because it is surrounded by so much recreational area, and it is so pretty here”. Shanda attended the North Idaho Real Estate Academy in Coeur d’Alene Idaho and joined our United Country Steelhead Realty team in Orofino. Shanda’s favorite part of being a Realtor is helping people find their dream property. Shanda specializes in home and recreational properties but also loves helping people find investment and timberland properties. Being able to continue her career in Real Estate after moving to Idaho was an easy decision for her. It is important in life to find a job that you love to do and every day is a vacation here! Shanda loves the outdoors and spending time with her family. Hunting, camping, boating, riding horses and ATV’ing are some of the outdoor actives she likes to do. Shanda and her family purchased a home on property that borders public land and they can be found either horseback riding or ATV’ing right out their back door. Shanda says,”With the Dworshak Reservoir, Clearwater River and Snake River all within a few minutes of our home and being able to border public land is why we chose to live here. I want to help other families find their dream property here too. Orofino is truly one of Idaho’s best kept secrets. Being able to hunt rocky mountain elk, white tail deer, fish for small mouth bass at Dworshak Reservoir and for steelhead while boating on the Clearwater River and working within a few minutes of my home are what my dreams were made of and I would love to help other families find their dream here too. Every day I wake up and look outside and think, I must still be dreaming!”

When she’s not helping buyers find peaceful recreational properties she is most certainly on the ATV trails around Grangeville, Elk City and White Bird in the Nez Perce Clearwater National Forest. Jet boating on the Salmon River and Snake River are two of Teena’s favorite outdoor activities. She says “the best part about North Central Idaho is being outdoors”.
After graduating from Meridian High School in 1998, Earl attended the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa. He started his career working in Eagle, Idaho as a salesman and auctioneer for Idaho’s largest public auto auction while simultaneously performing contract auctioneering for a number of heavy equipment auction companies.
In 2006 Earl earned the prestigious title of IAPA Bid Calling Champion Auctioneer for the entire state of Idaho while also graduating the Certified Auction Institute at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
After obtaining his real estate salesman license (and later his brokers license) Earl combined his two passions and began conducting real estate auctions both online and live. His experiences with real estate auctions led him to develop an entirely new and successful concept for conducting online personal property auctions. He debuted his ground-breaking idea in Nampa, Idaho where his auction house flourished and promptly outgrew their offices in two months. In the next six months, several auction companies followed Earl’s lead all over the Treasure Valley. United Country Musick and Sons remained at the top of the industry even well after it was sold. Earl moved back home to North Central Idaho – Grangeville, Idaho (his hometown) to pursue a recreation lifestyle as well as real estate. Earl’s expertise lies in recreational properties for sale in North Central Idaho, Idaho hunting land for sale and Idaho ranches and farms for sale. His concentration is in North Central Idaho but he serves the entire state and is qualified and happy to meet your needs as a buyer’s broker or listing broker for any and all Idaho real estate. In 2010 Earl teamed up with Potlatch Land to offer his buyers the best recreation properties available in North Central Idaho. In addition, teaming up with Realtree United Country Hunting Properties has given us the opportunity to highlight recreation/Hunting properties in North Central Idaho.
Earl has a passion for the outdoors, specifically fishing for steelhead salmon or Chinook Salmon on the Snake River, Salmon River and the Clearwater River (all of which are within an hour from Grangeville!) If he can’t be found on the river, chances are he’s trophy mule deer or rocky mountain elk hunting. During football season you’ll find Earl at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho rooting on the Idaho Vandals at the University of Idaho’s campus. Go Vandals!
